74. The Films of Sean Baker - Tangerine (2015), The Florida Project (2017) & Red Rocket (2021)

This week, we discuss 3 films from celebrated American indie director Sean Baker.

First, we discuss Tangerine (2015), a comedy-drama about 2 transgender prostitutes in a notorious neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

Next, we talk about The Florida Project (2017), a story of a young mother and child living in a motel just outside Walt Disney World. The film earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Willem Dafoe.

Finally, we move into a discussion of Baker’s most recent film, Red Rocket (2021). The film stars Simon Rex as Mikey Saber, an adult film actor who returns to his hometown on the Texas Gulf Coast.
